General David Petraeus on "Conflict: The Evolution of Warfare from 1945 to Ukraine"

Wednesday, January 17, 2024 (11:30 AM - 2:00 PM) (PST)

Description

General David Petraeus is one of the most recognizable and distinguished military leaders of the modern era. Through more than three decades of service in the U.S. Army, General Petraeus’s strengths in strategy, implementation, and command earned him opportunities for leadership in conflict zones across the world. Most notably, General Petraeus commanded multinational forces in Iraq and Afghanistan; and, in 2011, he was confirmed by the U.S. Senate to serve as Director of the CIA.

In a new book, Conflict: The Evolution of Warfare from 1945 to Ukraine, co-authored by military historian Andrew Roberts, General Petraeus applies his decades of military expertise to analyze nearly eighty years of warfare. Petraeus and Roberts examine numerous recent conflicts – the Korean and Vietnam Wars, the two Gulf Wars, and more – and analyze mistakes made, as well as how modern leaders should adapt to new weapons, theories, and strategies. Conflict also contains an in-depth study of the ongoing Russo-Ukrainian War.
