Description
On Thursday, February 27, 2025, the Los Angeles World Affairs Council hosted Dr. Fiona Hill, former Senior Director for Europe and Russia on the U.S. National Security Council (2017-2019) for an evening event titled, "Peace In Ukraine: Negotiations Without Europe? ". The event was held at the Skirball Cultural Center from 5:30-8:00 pm and was moderated by former U.S. Ambassador to Hungary & Director of the California Film Commission, Ambassador Colleen Bell.
We hosted an enlightening evening with Dr. Fiona Hill, Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution, as she delved into the way forward in Ukraine. Dr. Hill built a distinguished career as an acclaimed foreign affairs specialist, author, and presidential advisor to three U.S. presidents: George W. Bush, Barack Obama, and Donald Trump. She served on the U.S. National Intelligence Council from 2006 to 2009 and was a member of the U.S. National Security Council from 2017 to 2019.
In July 2024, Dr. Hill was appointed by UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer to co-lead a comprehensive review of the UK armed forces. Drawing on her unparalleled expertise on Russia and Ukraine, Dr. Hill provided an in-depth analysis of the ongoing conflict and discussed potential paths toward resolution.
The event was open to members and non-members alike and offered invaluable insights into one of today’s most pressing global issues.
